Derived from maize and tapioca, maltodextrins and dried glucose syrups are widely used as clean label ingredients in food products such as ice cream, cereal bars and isotonic drinks. Some of the typical applications are to control texture and viscosity, to carry flavour, enhance appearance or to supply additional carbohydrate.

They are also used to prevent ice crystal formation in frozen foods.
